Prayer Lives

In the morning think through your day
What is your body saying to you about yesterday, or today? Are you carrying fear, hope, anxiety or some other emotion in your body? Give them to God.

What tasks do you have? Who will you see? What do you expect to happen? What do you anticipate with joy? Or with fear?  Bring each of these to God. “God, I give you the doctor’s appointment to you.” That’s it, just give it.  “God I look forward to seeing my grandchild this evening.” That’s it, just give it.  “God, you know that I don’t get along with my brother very well but I have to talk to him today. I give you that meeting.” Just give it.

In the evening Think back over the day – how do you feel about it? Where are there memories of joy?  Where did things not work out as you had hoped?  What do you feel about those? Give each of them to God. Sense what you feel emotionally. Give the emotions to God, what ever they are – joy, fear, anger, confusion. Leave them with God.  You might be someone who shouldn’t go back over the day just before bed, do it another time instead. Another helpful thing to do either in the morning or evening is to imagine God or Jesus with you. As you think about being with your grandchild, doctor, brother or others, imagine Jesus with you to be your help and encouragement. When you think back over the day, imagine that Jesus was with you in each situation.

Maybe sometime you need to take an hour or a morning or evening and spend time with God. Use the same questions and patterns.
